[ENTERTAINMENT] ‘BEAUTIFUL BOY’ TRAILER SHOWCASES CARELL AND CHALAMET

The upcoming film “Beautiful Boy” follows Steve Carell and Timothee Chalamet as father and son trying to navigate the son’s drug addiction and path to sobriety.

The movie is based on the memoirs “Beautiful Boy” which tells the story through the father’s perspective, and “Tweak” which follows the son as he dives deeper into his addiction and the rough road to sobriety.

Carell stars as David Sheff, whose oldest son Nic, played by “Call Me by Your Name” breakout Timothee Chalamet, falls deep into addiction. The movie will definitely be a tear jerker, as well as an “Office” reunion and Carell will be married to Amy Ryan, who played Dunder Mifflin’s H.R. rep, Holly Flax.

After its premiere at T.I.F.F., “Beautiful Boy” got a tepid reception; it wasn’t panned, but few people were singing its praises as amazing. While I’m sure the performances are top notch, I’m curious if the screenplay, which morphs the two memoirs, will work cohesively.

Either way, I’m definitely going to see it.

“Beautiful Boy” will open in limited release on October 12 before expanding wide throughout the fall.
