[ENTERTAINMENT] LOVE & HIPHOP STAR BLEACHES SKIN

The Jamaican rapper unveiled her undoubtedly lighter skin on Instagram and people did not hesitate to comment on her new appearance.

Grace Hamilton, better known as spice, captioned the image “nothing wrong with a fresh start.” The Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta star also used the image to promote her new album, encouraging fans to pre-order.

The message of her upcoming album was completely lost in the comment section as fans decided to focus instead on her drastically lighter complexion. Some accusing her of bleaching her skin, while others wanted to believe it was photoshop. Leomie Anderson, a model, posted a video of Spice explaining her new look and why she decided to change it up. Anderson described the explanation as sad. Anderson also stated that this is what Spice believed her fans wanted.

Spice took to Instagram to comment about the bleached skin stating “Since the photo was photoshopped. How did I video shop this on snap chat?” Reps from the star claim the new look is for a song on the album titled “Black Hypocrisy.”

Despite what Spice thought, fans didn’t seem as supportive of the new look like she stated in her video. One fan commented saying “It’s sad that you bleached your skin. What type of message do you think your sending out there to other lil black girls who get picked on because of their skin colour? To change their skin to? This sad.”

I too strongly agree with this one fan. This sends a terrible message to the stars young followers with darker skin. With skin tone already being a dividing aspect of the black community, this is something that promotes the idea of self-hate instead of self-love.

Comment down below if you agree or if you believe she should be able to do what she’d like with her skin.
