[ENTERTAINMENT] MISS AMERICA LICENSES TERMINATED FOR FOUR STATES

Miss America is cracking down on the rebellious states, by terminating the licenses of four states and threatening the licenses of others with probation.

Upon the change in leadership last January and the new and improved Miss America competition, many have been outraged expressing their anger with Miss America leader Gretchen Carlson. One of the major changes to the  Miss America competition this year included the removal of the swimsuit segment, which many did not approve of. According to the Associated Press, “state officials say their dissatisfaction stemmed not from the elimination of swimsuits, but by the way Carlson and CEO Regina Hopper ran the organization since taking over in January”.

Three states that have officially been confirmed terminated are Pennsylvania, Georgia, and West Virginia. State officials have yet to confirm the fourth terminated state. The Miss America Organization has stated “the process regarding Miss America state licensees is confidential” , and have not confirmed anything about the termination. Former Miss North Carolina, Jennifer Vaden Barth explains that the states are “upset, but now they are scared, too”.

This crackdown is supposed to show states that the organization will not stand for the negative commentary that has taken place against the organization since the new and improved Miss America 2.0. I believe this is a step that is crucial for the survival and respect of the new Miss America Organization and the changes that have been incorporated. Comment down below your opinion and if you believe the termination was too far.
