[ENTERTAINMENT] NETFLIX’S ‘SABRINA’ SUED BY SATANIC TEMPLE

Netflix’s “The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” has been making headlines since its debut last month, and is now being sued by the Satanic Temple for $50 million.

Yes, we are taking legal action regarding #TheChillingAdventuresofSabrina appropriating our copyrighted monument design to promote their asinine Satanic Panic fiction. — Lucien Greaves (@LucienGreaves) October 29, 2018

The Baphomet is a deity that’s apparently unique to the Satanic Temple, and they’re not happy about showing up in the Netflix remake of “Sabrina the Teenage Witch.”

What many people may not know about the Satanic Temple, is that they’re actually not Satan worshippers in the traditional sense, like they’re portrayed in this season of “American Horror Story: Apocalypse”, but they’re more anti-organized religion.

Regardless if they’re actually hailing the Antichrist or not, the Satanic Temple doesn’t want to be associated with the “Sabrina” series. They fear it’s going to start another “Satanic Panic.” During the 80’s and 90’s, there was near universal fear and panic surrounding Dungeons and Dragons players, heavy metal music and the West Memphis Three.

I guess it’s fair that the Temple doesn’t want anything to do with the show, since the whole “Satanic Panic” thing was really problematic and actually did sway public perception, but with a name like The Satanic Temple, it’s easy to see why at least some people would have a negative connotation with their organization/religion.

Do you think the Satanic Temple has any ground in suing “The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” and Netflix? Let me know in the comments below!
