On Wednesday, Netflix announced that Black Mirror will return for it’s fifth season. It came with a trailer, which features Miley Cyrus in meta-role playing a famous pop star that has undergone some kind of change to gain popularity. It’s eerily similar to the premise of Hannah Montana, with Cyrus having two different hair styles for home and performing. Besides Miley Cyrus, who announced she would be acting for the show in December, the other actors are Anthony Mackie, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Topher Grace, Damson Idris, Andrew Scott, Nicole Beharie, Pom Klementieff, Angourie Rice, Madison Davenport and Ludi Lin.
The themes of the show will be similar to previous seasons, focusing on social media, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, etc. The writers for this season are the returning Charlie Booker, and the new Annabel Jones. There will only be three stories to the series, with no word on how many episodes per story or if they’ll even be in order. Hopefully there isn’t just a single episode per story-line or we kinda got screwed over. At least we know that it won’t be a choose-your-own-adventure as Black Mirror: Bandersnatch was.
The show is set to come out on June 5th so have fun using technology until then.
