[ENTERTAINMENT] ZAC EFRON IS TED BUNDY

Zac Efron is starring as serial killer Ted Bundy in the upcoming biopic “Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile.” Directed by documentarian Joe Berlinger, the film will focus on Bundy’s crimes and eventual downfall. Lily Collins of “Okja” and “Rules Don’t Apply” will be playing Bundy’s longtime girlfriend, Elizabeth Kloepfer.

The film is said to focus on Kloepfer and her perspective of being involved with a dangerous murderer. Apparently it will focus on her struggling to come to terms with the possibility that the man she loves in, in fact, evil. Before his execution (not a spoiler alert if it’s real life) he confessed to 30 murders, but rumors say he killed many more.

If not unique, it’s certainly interesting that Bundy was always described as handsome and charismatic. No one would’ve thought he was a serial killer, and it was a huge shock when his horrible pass-time was revealed to the public. People who look like that aren’t supposed to be serial killers; it’s supposed to be reserved for creepy guys. Bundy changed the public’s perspective on who can actually be evil.

Efron, who was catipulted to mainstream success thanks to Disney Channel’s “High School Musical” franchise, seems to be a great choice for Bundy, and while only a few images have been released, I have a feeling he’s going to do a really good job. At least, I hope he will.

With the Sundance lineup announced this week, it was revealed that the Ted Bundy biopic would be making its debut at the Utah festival this upcoming January, where it will likely be bought by a distribution company and set to be released later in 2019 (potentially at an awards-friendly release date).

Do you have any interest in seeing “Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile?” Do you think Zac Efron was a good choice to play Ted Bundy? Do you think that a film like this could potentially glorify Bundy’s actions? Let me know in the comments below!
