Coming off two huge release weeks, and a holiday weekend naturally this week was slower. The artists that were going to drop did so in the last few weeks and the next wave of artists are waiting for the summer rush, and because of that, this was a slower week. A handful of projects dropped, a few more singles, but there was no hard drive dump of music as there were the last few weeks.
Otis Kane – good love single
Foushee- my slime single
Ty $ sign – I win from fast 9
Meek mill – Flamerz flow single
Bad bunny – yonaguni single
Roy woods – touch you single
Og Parker – rain down single
Roddy ricch- late at night single
Yo gotti ft da baby – drop single
Breeland from Keith urban – throw it back single
Madison beer – reckless single
Rod wave – forever set in stone single
Calvin Harris – by your side single
Moneybag yo – rookie of the year single
Billie eillish- lost cause single
Jax – like my father single
I will say this may have been the first week I was able to get through most of the music in a relatively easy fashion. This may be the only time I thank the new DSP era of artists and music-making songs 2 minutes long. I can’t say the same for the projects. The albums that came out this week were on the longer side, especially the major ones that dropped each having 18 songs on them. Thankfully in both cases, the music was good enough to enjoy the whole project in the same sitting.
This week’s article is a first. Usually, I am able to come away with five or more projects and songs to construct a top-five list with relative ease, however, this week was that was not the case, and because of that I am pulling an opposite Trey Wingo and having a top-five list with only four.
This was a much-anticipated album that was supposed to drop last week, however, in solidarity and respect for DMX, they pushed their album back a week. I commend them for that, you don’t see a lot of artists pushing releases back for any other reason than blaming their labels. This was a classy move.
I don’t have much to say about the album, it was exactly what you would expect from these two artists, especially coming off their single and title track last week. These two artists that make similar music lending to a great collaboration effort. The music sounds great, the album is well put together, and both of them did exactly what you would expect from two of the top rap artists in the game right now.
3) John Mayer – last train ep – comprised of singles from 2019-2020 and a new song “last train home”
John Mayer does what John Mayer does. Provide excellent music that everyone is going to love. A short four-song ep consisting of three previously released singles and the new title track, to me, was the perfect way to break up the heavy rap and R&B music week.
Pop songs about love, pop songs about feelings, pop songs about emotion all with a great voice and instrumentations, what more can you ask for?
I have been raving about the singles that were released from this album for the last month or so as they have come out. I love R&B and hearing Raheem do R&B is amazing. Love songs, sex songs, and emotional songs, god do I love R&B.
Raheem delivers an album of songs speaking to your girl, and once he’s done speaking to your girl he explicitly says what he is going to do to her in the bed. His descriptions and explanations are the equivalents of describing a movie to the blind. This is the album you’re going to be playing when it’s that time of the night.
Lloyd Banks is back! I couldn’t have been happier to see his album release. This album is amazing. The features are great, the beats are great, the songs are great, the lyrics are great, everything is amazing.
This is an album for the hip-hop heads. This is an album for the boom-bap crowd. This is an album for the lyrical miracle monsters. Banks shows that he is still a punch line king.
