This is an incredible album that showcases Pop Smoke’s entire range as an artist. 19 songs (16 actual songs after the intro, outro and bonus) he has drill songs, hip-hop, and R&B style tracks on this album that all fit cohesively together. Great flowing album, great features and great sound. 50 Cent and Steven Victor did an amazing job on this album, after the initial cover release that is. Read the full review here. Rest in peace Pop Smoke.
This is an ok single, Kanye is back in his rapping style and Travis Scott is doing what Travis Scott does, but over all, for me, this is not a song I will go back to. Especially with the vast amount of music that was released today.
Westside is westsiding. Exactly what he and Griselda have become know for is exactly what this album is. A quick 33 minute, 14 song album that is a strong showing from the Griselda rapper. A fan of him, the group and real lyrical rapping will enjoy this album. Personally as a fan of this entire group, I will be revisiting this album for multiple listens.
A short six-song, 19 minute EP from the pop/R&B singer gives a different vibe not only from the rest of this list, but also a majority of what came out today. Features from Swae Lee and Juice WRLD are good fits for the songs and styles and fit together cohesively. For me this was a good genre switch up between everything else I listen too today and it was a good listen.
Exactly what you would expect from a Willie Nelson release. Any fans of his or country music will enjoy this album, as a fan of his but not necessarily this entire genre of music, it was another good genre switch for me today, but not necessarily something I will be going back to for a second listen. At least in my current environment, sitting around a bond fire over this holiday weekend could be an entirely different story.
This is a longer album, one of the longest of the day, one hour and twenty minutes with 24 songs, it is pretty lengthly. This is not a Gucci album, this is a collaboration album with different artists and features on every song. Personally I am not a huge fan of this album, some of the flows are not for me, some of the lyrics are not for me, overall for me this is not something I will be going back to. If you are a fan of Gucci or the artists he works with you will probably enjoy this album. For me, especially with everything else that was released today and the quality of the other albums, this is a skip for me.
A strong showing from Lil Wayne, which is to expected. The perfect album length, 13 songs, 56 minutes. This album shows all the sides we know from Wayne. Rapping, rap-singing, hard beats, slower beats, features, and everything we know from and love from Wayne is on this album. I won’t short change the entire album, but there are a few skips, or better categorized as songs I won’t go back to, but there are definitely songs I will be going back to after the first initial listen.
This is a good but not great single. Kanye sounds better on this than his own single release with Travis Scott, however this is a song that unless you are an extreme fan of these artists will most likely get lost in the shuffle with the other albums that got released today.
This is exactly what you would expect from a fast and furious single. They are attempting to keep a buzz going by releasing a mixtape prior to the soundtrack and movie coming out and this is the first single from the mixtape. Not a great song, but it fits right into the style of previous fast singles, minus the Wiz single that was dedicated to Paul Walker which still stands in a league of its own. Not a song I will be going back to, especially with everything else released today, but its not a terrible song for what it is.
This a good showing from Russ. One of the better singles released today. Russ still stands out as a great artist, and with his recent post of becoming fully independent again, I expect to hear more songs like this more often from him in the very near future. Remember, he got his name from releasing a song a week for years, if he starts to do that again, or even every few weeks or every month, we all better be ready for Russ to dominate the fall.
This single is exactly what you think it is from the title, a song about his money and why he is recession proof and isn’t effected by everything that is going on in the world today, at least as it pertains to financially. Not a great single, but it is what it is, I don’t see this as a song that will appear on an upcoming project, if there is one, unless it is a short ep or mixtape all in this vein. Not terrible, but definitely something I will not be going back too.
