HOW DOES CHRIS BROWN STILL HAVE A CAREER?

When I hear that Chris Brown still has a career I get extremely upset. In 2018 he is still making music with decently popular artists that keep him on the radio. He just released a song with a music video, “Tempo” on March 2nd, 2018 and it has gotten about 14 million plays on Youtube and local rap station radios play it quite frequently. He just had a recent collaboration with Lil Dicky for “Freaky Friday” and that has gotten a lot of attention too. But the question in my mind will not remain silent. How could this guy still have a career after beating up Rihanna? What is wrong with the music industry to the point where someone who beats up his girlfriend still has a shot at a career and one that is doing pretty well. I could not imagine someone who still supports his career knowing that he has been in several cases of domestic abuse, and with real concrete evidence. This is not a speculation but a hard fact that doesn’t seem to be gaining any ground.

In February 2009 when the couple was set to go the Grammys they got into a heated argument which causes Chris Brown to hit Rihanna to the point where she got a horrific black eye that flooded the internet. After that fight, I was sure that Chris Brown would never see the light of day again but he is still making music almost ten years after the incident and people seem to be turning a blind eye to it. I can’t imagine that a record company would even want his name on the label. Chris Brown isn’t even that good so the fact that he is still making music shows how society views domestic violence. They don’t care unless they are involved and since it is not affecting them directly they are willing to turn a blind eye to it. No wonder why thousands of women never want to report domestic violence to the police, no one cares about it. If a huge celebrity like Rihanna cannot do anything then how would a normal person do anything to help themselves in that sort of situation? We have to start treating these cases like they are meant to be treated, and that isn’t lightly. Chris Brown is a dangerous person but we continue to treat him like his violent actions were a one-time thing. To trust Chris Brown and actually give him the time of day, says a lot about you. People lose their lives over domestic abuse and if someone thinks that isn’t important, they can figure it out themselves.
