K MICHELLE – ALL MONSTERS ARE HUMAN ALBUM REVIEW

An acoustic piano, 4-on-the-floor drums, and a synth. K Michelle starts her album All Monsters Are Human, by telling everyone, “I aint even wanna do this album.” Asking, “Where is the love?” “What have I done to make them hate me so much?” Expressing her frustration for 5 minutes on the opening track, every second of which I had the “stank face,” and finishing with saying, “I’ll fade to black, Just like Jay – cause y’all aint appreciate me anyway.” I can understand as a guy if your not able to, content-wise, get into “That Game,” but after that, SHE REMIXED “CAN YOU STAND THE RAIN” AND ABSOLUTELY MURDERED IT! Putting her own spin on this classic while keeping the same hook and adding lines like, “Your gonna have to change my name to H2O, “ K Michelle completely draws you in at this point. Having to literally follow up a classic track, “All The Lovers Go” follows exactly in suite, and holding the last note before the fade out, at this point, (only three songs in) she is just showing off.

This is a warning to everyone…”Something New,” is about to be quoted and used for hashtags and tweets for months. “Got a hot pocket but I’m cold hearted.” “I’ma let you deal with karma, I’ma go get this dick.” K. Michelle has a certified hit, possible classic album with this one. “Aint no future anyway pray the prayer Ciara’s prayer.” How is K Michelle able to create an entire song based on someone else’s situation and use the names in a clever way while staying respectful? At the halfway point of this album, the track says my thoughts exactly, “OMG.”

Ok, ok, ok, I need to calm down. Through seven songs there is not one skip, and every track has replay value. However, there is always an exception to the rule. In this case that would be, “Supahood.” Now, for females, this track will become a non-stop of quotable lines, but for the male audience, this is probably the only skip on the entire album, and it is strictly due to subject matter and nothing else. The track itself is a good and the features complement it properly, but as a male, I can not see myself going back to listen to this song. “The richer the n*****, the pussy gets wetter.”

“Love on Me,” immediately get you back into the groove, literally. Returning with the 4-on-the-floor drum, this dance track about love is the perfect way to get passed the only features on the entire album. K Michelle spends no time getting you right back into the vibe of the album. For good measure, incase you weren’t back into the music at this point, “I Don’t Like You,” is one of two incredible ballads on this album. At the time of writing this, January 31st, it still early in the year, but fellas, if you screw up in any way, shape or form with your girls this year, prepare to be berated with notifications of mentions, sub-tweets, hashtags and direct quotes from at least one line from each one of the songs on this album.

“All Monsters Are Human,” is by far, head and shoulders above and beyond any other album that was released today. With the exception of “Supahood,” which again will be a female anthem, but skippable for most men, this entire album, from start to finish, is incredible. Everyone should go to Spotify right now, download and listen to this album.
