Kevin Abstract released his second studio album titled ARIZONA BABY. The record is his first solo effort in three years, and is produced by long time collaborator Romil Hemnani and Bleachers front man, Jack Antonoff.
Abstract released the album in experimental fashion– releasing three songs at a time each week, before rolling out the full length version. It’s a gigantic leap in quality all around for the 21-year old, L.A. based rapper. The record is a personal essay where Abstract reflects on his own sexuality and the effects its had his past, as well as his personal relationships with friends– most notably on the track “Corpus Christi,” where he divulges on the removal of former bandmate Ameer Vann.
The new album has revised versions of previously released tracks and features some members of Brockhampton. The new mixes and masters of the songs make the complete project flow very smoothly from front to back. While the tracks do deal with some more serious lyrics than a standard Brockhampton project, a good bulk of the songs are perfect for the summer.
