This Valentine’s Day we don’t want to be bitter but celebrate the joy that love brings into our lives. Music is one of the biggest unifiers in the world and helps us connect with others on a much powerful level. Music not only makes us feel love, but it could be the cause of finding love. There have been many romances in the music world but I want to take this time remember the crazy romance of John Lennon and Yoko Ono.
They met in November 1966 at a London gallery where Yoko was preparing an exhibition for her work. They instantly connected and started their infamous romance. On March 20, 1969, they were married, and the wedding was beautiful.
They started to collaborate creative pieces together and created the term “bagism” which was a series of lithographs that was a part of their peace campaign. It involved wearing bags over your body to satirize prejudice and stereotyping.
In 1970 The Beatles broke up, but John and Yoko collaborated on a series of music projects. Their last project came out in 1980, entitled Double Fantasy.

Not only were they were in love, but they were soul mates. They were creatively similar and worked better together to create their vision. It seems like they were put on this world to create music together. There was no breaking these two up, until the unfortunate and sudden death of John Lennon.
On the day of Lennon’s assassination, Annie Leibovitz photographed the couple together. It captured their love during his final moments. The death was devastating for Yoko and my heart goes out to her.
Even years after, Yoko is still affected by his death.
Watch her tear up in this interview years later:
Unfortuantly they couldn’t grow old together, but the legacy of their love will always prevail.

There are also a lot of free documentaries on Youtube you can access to see the love that these two had for each other.
