Offset is the best Migo and he’s proven that on this album. This album was delayed a few times but QC and Offset made it worth the wait. Many were expecting a turn-up club album, but Offset surprised everybody with a personal POV of his past year.
Offset comes through with a 16 track album laced with features from Big Rube, J.Cole, Gunna, CeeLo Green, Travis Scott, 21 Savage, Quavo, and of course his wife Cardi B. The album starts with Big Rube talking which give you those ATL voiceover memories, which leads into Offset apologizing to his kids about missing time in their lives. The following track “How Did I Get Here(feat.Jcole)” has Offset reminiscing about how far he’s come and everybody doubting him, “They didn’t think I was a star/ Then I fucked around and beat the odds.” Everybody knows Offset legal troubles early in his career, it is amazing to see how much he has changed since then.
Offset keeps the same vibe on tracks “Came a Long Way” and “North Star(Feat. Ceelo Green), which not only shows CeeLo vocal mastery talent but Offset surprises you too ” My dawg caught a lick/ Mama had a nigga scared” Offset might rival Quavo soon for top melody artist.
Offset also address his cheating scandal and apologizes to his wife Cardi B on “Don’t Lose Me” with lines “Number one, it’s a loyalty code (Number one) Temptation, had the devil in my soul (Temptation) I wanna be with you when we old (When we old)” which also features his Instagram apologize. The track must have done its job because she appears on the album to denounce the clout chaser on “Clout” and Cardi knows some of yall using her name for sells and attention “They using my name for clickbait/ Bitches even wanna start fake beef, to sell they weave and little mixtape/ I know that means traffic low.” This is definitely a shot at many people but we’re all going to assume its about one person.
Offset does switch vibes too give you those turn up tracks on “Wild Wild West”(Feat. Gunna), “Lick”, and “Legacy” (Feat. Travis Scott and 21 Savage) nothing top charting but they get the job done.
In all this is a solid album for Offset definitely better than Quavo and Takeoff solo projects. The album wasn’t made to have club bangers and spring anthems but to reveal another side to Offset dynamic. It was a personal account of everything that has happened in his life up until now, and once people realize that they will appreciate this album a lot more.
