[NEWS] MASS SHOOTING AT A CALIFORNIA BAR

12 people have died after a gunman opened fire in a California bar on college night.

On Wednesday night at Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks California an innocent college night ended in people fighting for their lives. According to CNN 10 to 15 individuals were also injured and the suspected gunman was found dead at the scene.

Among the deceased that night was a sheriffs deputy, Sergeant Ron Helus. Ron Helus had been a member of the force for 29 years. Ventura County Sheriff Geoff Dean states that “Ron was a hardworking, dedicated sheriff’s sergeant. He was totally committed. He gave his all and tonight, as I told his wife, he died a hero. He went in to save lives, to save other people.”

Dean also mentioned the inside of the club saying “it’s a horrific scene in there. There is blood everywhere.”

Police have identified the gunman to be 28-year-old Ian David Long. According to Aljazeera, it is reported that Long used smoke bombs before opening fire inside the club. Police have stated that hundreds of civilians were inside for the clubs “College Country Night” that is apparently hosted every Wednesday night. Police reveal that as of right now only one injury was in result of a gun shot whereas others were sustained from jumping out of windows and diving under tables.

According to ABC15 this marks the 307th mass shooting this year alone. This is something that has become a startling fear in our country and places even bigger emphasis on gun control and gun laws.
