Americas number one breakfast joint is moving to a first name basis, that is right Dunkin’ Donut’s will officially be dropping the Donuts in their name starting this January.
The franchise stated in a tweet “It’s official we’re going by Dunkin’ now. After 68 years of America running on Dunkin’, we’re moving to a first name basis”. Don’t fret, the company will still be producing the buttery, sugary, doughnuts we all know and love, but this will be a large makeover and rebranding for the breakfast restaurant. CEO of the company, David Hoffman believes that this “will keep our brand relevant for generations to come”. Alongside the name change, the company will also be renovating many of the stores, these renovations will include new glass storages for the doughnuts instead of the wire baskets behind the cashier, along with digital kiosk to order on, and tap systems for drinks, similar to what you’d see in a bar.
The company will be focusing on becoming more of a “drink based” franchise, which they have been aiming for since 2013, and in many ways have succeeded at. According to New York Times, beverage sales for the company has increased from 50% to 68%, which will hopefully increase after the many changes that are underway.
For everyone who loves a good Dunkin’ run like I do, comment down below if you are feeling this new modernization wave America’s number one doughnut shop will be partaking in.
