Sixth Man Shows Up Clutch For BKN
Each year Spencer Dinwiddie has continued to improve as an NBA player, something his former team he went up against on Wednesday night can attest to.
To their dismay.
The Brooklyn Nets defeated the Detroit Pistons 120-119 in overtime on Wednesday night at the Barclays Center to snap their three-game losing skid.
Spencer Dinwiddie played the hero for the Brooklyn Nets on Halloween as he hit two clutch baskets near the end of regulation and overtime, the latter a game-winning 3-point shot with 7.9 seconds remaining, to help Brooklyn slide past Detroit.
Dinwiddie led the Nets with a team-high 25 points, which also represents his season-high and second consecutive game as Brooklyn’s high point man.
Not to go unmentioned, but another key role player for the Brooklyn Nets, Joe Harris, who scored 23 points on the night.
The game went into overtime after the Nets rallied in the fourth quarter, tying the game ultimately on a Spencer Dinwiddie 3-pointer with 21.0 seconds remaining in the fourth.
With Nets’ guard D’Angelo Russell mired in a awful shooting night (6 points, 3-for-15 FG), it was the fifth-year guard out of Colorado who more than made up for it.
The Brooklyn Nets (3-5) did well to limit Detroit’s productivity on the offensive end, holding them to 42 percent shooting from the field and 32 percent from beyond the arc.
Blake Griffin scored 25 points and finished with nine rebounds, four assists, two steals and one block in 42 minutes.
His game-winning attempt from 18-feet away would fall short and Caris LeVert would sky for the rebound to secure the win.
Andre Drummond dominated the Nets once again as he scored 24 points to go along with 23 rebounds, collecting his second 20-20 game against Brooklyn in as many matchups.
It was close last time these two played on opening night when Detroit edged Brooklyn 103-100, and it was yet again a nail biter down the stretch as both teams struggled to get it going offensively from the perimeter.
For Brooklyn, it’s a rebound effort after completely nosediving vs the New York Knicks on Monday in a 115-96 loss in Madison Square Garden.
Things were dicey throughout, but for Kenny Atkinson’s team, it’s a much needed win over a team that held a victory over them coming into the night.
The Brooklyn Nets will host the struggling Houston Rockets on Friday night at the Barclays Center.
